Our teachers have specialized training in infant/toddler growth and development and in working with families. Parents are welcome to come in anytime, and we encourage you to set aside a regular time each month to spend in your child’s room. Areas for breastfeeding are available so mothers can be with their children anytime. We talk with, hold, sing and respond lovingly to your child. Routines of feeding and diaper changing are occasions for positive interaction and nurturing. Reading books is an important part of each day. * Please click here for more information on how the monthly tuition costs were set. One-Year Old Program DescriptionThese little explorers are mastering walking and beginning to use expressive language. They are starting to assert themselves and exhibit more physical confidence. Our young toddlers enjoy a group size of nine, with two teachers. We have two young toddler groups, each with its own room. Individual rhythms for eating, sleeping and diaper changing will be respected, with plenty of attention paid to each child’s temperament, interests and developmental requirements. Children who were in our infant program will have the
same teachers and group, and all will move to the young toddler rooms together.
A separate play yard just for this age group is adjacent to the classroom. There
is a place for low ride-on toys, safety swings and space to move, move, move!
Balls are a great favorite at this age, as are push toys. The La Luz ECC facility has been designed with a homelike feel that we hope provides a comfortable environment for breastfeeding moms to drop by during the day to nurse their babies. The One Year Old room features more than 70 square feet per child, which far exceeds the NAEYC recommended minimum of 50. With a large space, and the very low ratios in this program, La Luz ECC toddlers enjoy time free of tears, and full of security, calmness, and developmentally appropriate stimulation.
